14th Annual WPWC Golf Scramble Recap
West Point, NY | September 9, 2024
Another great weekend of golf, fellowship, shared passion for Army Wrestling ... and yes, more rain! This year the rain held off for the first 15 holes, but then the skies opened up. The die-hards remained out there to finish while the rest of us headed to the clubhouse for drier confines, great chow and a whole lot of stories about that "almost birdie."
Last year, Coach Ward eloquently explained WHY we golf as wrestlers, but I'll sum it up by saying that it allows us to foster a greater sense of community among our wrestlers (past and present), families and fans. The team feeds off your engagement and support, and our Golf Scramble is a great opportunity to meet the team and come closer as a family. Secondly, it's important that we support the WPWC and RTC to remain competitive. The revenue from this event goes directly to the WPWC and RTC, allowing sustained world-class coaching, and expanded training and competition opportunities
We are incredibly lucky to have our passionate fanbase that contributes to our success. We want to reward and recognize our donors for their tremendous generosity and ongoing contributions. so we launched the WPWC Donation Incentive Program with exciting benefits and exclusive experiences. OK, on to the Golf Scramble results - Congratulations to all:
1st Place – Hank Mumma ’72 led his team (Mumma, Finley, Kramarski x2) to the top of the podium at 14 under
2nd Place – Gio and the Brandstadt Brothers carded 2 eagles but eventually fell one stroke short
3rd Place – We had a 3-way logjam at 12 under and went to tiebreaker criteria. Winning the tiebreaker and new to the podium in 2024 was Army Wrestling OR Matt Magennis and his longtime partners (Metzgar, D’Aconti, Armstrong).
Pictures from Saturday can be found here. We're still uploading, so check back often.
We can't do it without you, so a heartfelt THANK YOU goes out to all of our sponsors and participants for creating a truly memorable weekend.
Hope to see you at the 15th Annual Golf Scramble in 2025!
