Go Green's Notes from Post

Hey guys,

Just reaching out to let you know things are still going well in the Hudson Valley.  Most of your favorite cadets are home now enjoying some much needed down time, but I know they miss the coaches and are counting the days till they are back on post.

We are also eagerly awaiting R Day and the arrival of all of our new cadets and prepsters this summer. More to come on them soon.

We recently completed PIAD I- which included a joint training camp in Raleigh with the Wolfpack and a trip to Geneva, OH for U23.  The support of the West Point WC made this possible and we appreciate your role in that.

WPWC placed 3rd in the nation in U23 Greco, behind only Michigan State and Northern Michigan (the USOEC).

Tom Godbee had a breakthrough weekend, finishing as the runner up in Greco and as an All American in freestyle.

We also got AA finishes in Greco from Joe Couch, Zach Keal and Danny Lawrence.

Most of the 12 guys on this trip have limited experience in the international styles and it was fun to watch them compete again and win some bouts.  As we grow as a program, and bring in recruits that have more extensive experience this event will become more and more important as a measuring stick and our results will improve.

A couple of other areas of growth I want to let you guys know about

  • As you guys know, we led the EIWA in home attendance last year, finishing in the top 20 of ALL programs.  We have high goals for that next year.
  • We are highly coveted as a dual partner as we draw well on the road.  Many schools want us at their events.
  • We are lucky to be hosting a training camp in conjunction with NYUSAW this weekend which will include 100 athletes, many of whom are the best young freestylers in the Northeast.
  • Our summer camps are bursting at the seams, with more than double the number of campers from last year

All these things are a part of the program taking steps forward and we are thrilled to be making so much progress.

I hope you are enjoying the start of the summer.  I will be getting on the road soon to talk to 2025s and to keep spreading the word about America’s Team.
