Go Green's Notes from Post
First off- Thanks to all who donated on Giving Day. We set a lot of records for the day, and thanks to the work of the Class of '72 and a bunch of other generous donors- every dollar we raised was matched. This is a great start for us and we look forward to continued support.
Cougar Clash
We took 15 athletes to the Cougar Clash at SIUE on Saturday and got some good results. Ethan and Chuck both made the finals at 125 and we elected not to wrestle that match. We had two plebes make the finals as well- with Dakota Morris winning 3 straight bouts at 165 and Lucas Stoddard getting in at HWT. Both wound up second. A couple other highlights, great work by seniors Logan Brown (141) and Dillon Sheehy (174) on picking up 3rd place finishes. Neither has ever been a full-time starter, but both are giving us plenty of reason to believe we will always get everything they have to give. Three wrestlers picked up ranked wins this weekend as well. Dalton Harkins beat the #20 ranked wrestler from Minnesota, Thomas Deck knocked off the #15 wrestler in the land and the #1 seed from the host school, and Stoddard beat the 30th ranked Gopher in the semis. This is becoming an expectation, instead of an exception.
We had a rough semi round, which leaves the guys feeling like the results were a bit of a mixed bag. I'm confident they are excited to get back on the mat Saturday at the Cleveland State Open. Thanks to everyone again for their support.
