Go Green's Notes from Post

Happy Monday from West Point. I'm sure you all heard by now that the Army football team had a big win Saturday.  What a great effort in New England from Coach Monken and crew!

While that was going on- we had 20 plus Cadets competing at Cleveland State.  We wound up having 10 guys place in the top 3 in their respective weight classes and were able to flex our impressive depth once again.  Here are the weight class highlights:

Hwt (because why do we always start at the lightest guys?)

Lucas and Austin continue to be neck and neck.  We didn't wrestle them against each other.  Lucas lost a tough one in the finals, Austin dominated his opponent for 3rd.  It isn't an exaggeration to say that we have two top 25ish guys at this weight.  Tristen continues to develop as well, he is putting together a nice season as a direct admit plebe at a big boy weight.

197

We are giving everyone an opportunity to impress us at this weight.  Eli, Tom and Cole all won matches. This is an open competition at this point.

184

Kyle Swartz went 2-2.

174

No place winners here, but 3 wins for Firstie Dillon Sheehy.

165

Our deepest weight- we got 1st, 3rd and 5th.Andrew Christie put together his best performance to date and wrestled the way he needs to wrestle to be successful.  Dakota "The Blanket" Morris had two tech falls. Both lost to the same Michigan athlete.Dalton made sure the Wolverine didn't run the table against us with a dominant win in the finals.  Dalton looked as good as he has in a while.

157

Big tourney win for Nate as he keeps grinding away.  Like Dalton, it may be the best he has looked all year.  This is a good sign for us.  Nate is tough to beat when he is at his best.

149

Another weight where our depth is our friend.Matty made the finals with some exciting wins.TDeck lost to the same athlete as Matt and posted 5 victories.

141

Two guys saw their first action of the season.Shane Percelay went 5-1 to place 5th.Welcome back Julian Sanchez.  4 wins for the senior.Logan Brown led the charge at this weight as he made the finals with some quality wins over Michigan and Pitt.

133

Another nice podium finish for Basile.  His toughness was on display again as he seems to love to give up the first takedown in every match.  Some great victories to take 3rd.

125

Like HWT- there is clear evidence that we have two top 25ish athletes in this weight.  Chuck and Ethan both lost in OT to the same Ohio State athletes, but were dominant in their other bouts.

We will split the squad on Dec 22- sending some competitors to the Sheridan at Lehigh and a group to the Rose Bowl of wrestling at Wilkes.

Next on the agenda for the boys are their TEES and we wish them luck on those this week. Thanks for your support along the way- always good to run into you guys at events!
