A great weekend closed out a great January for America's Team.
First- we went down to the wire with Bucknell to move to 4-0 in EIWA action. Here is the wrap.
Anytime you get a 5-5 split in a bout, you have to rely on how tough you guys are to chase bonus, but also to not yield bonus. We are getting closer to where we need to be- when our guys start believing that there is no other team in the country that can beat five of our guys. It came down to HWT and Lucas got the job done, but don't lose sight of the fact that Charlie got the only bonus points of the dual. I actually don't think we wrestled all that great. Our goal was to win all ten bouts- which isn't unrealistic at all. But Bucknell was ready- credit to them. Six of our guys left Lewisburg that night and traveled to Lock Haven to compete in the Mat Town Open. Here are the placers from that.
125 Farmer 4th
133 Collins 3rd
165 Morris 4th
165 Filipowicz 5th
197 Murphy 4th
285 Kohlhofer 2nd
A couple notes there. The goal with Gunner is to build his DI match count, so he forfeited to a non-DI athlete to accomplish that. He actually went 4-0 on the day. This is important if he winds up earning the post season spot. Conor Collins is developing nicely at 133. He is a beast on top.
We are thrilled to add Jessy Williams to our RTC staff as a coach. The WPWC and RTC are growing thanks to your support. Jessy comes to us from Cornell where he filled the same role. He is a great pick up for us.
-7x AA at US Open
-2x U23 World Team coach
Jessy is also a certified college strength and conditioning coach- a huge benefit for all of our athletes. He is already in town and working with our guys.
We hope you are coming to see us in Annapolis, and we hope to see you at our social. Here is the info.
