Go Green's Notes from Post

Fans of America's Team,

Army 18 Navy 17

Some business before the break down.

Save the Date

Guys- circle May 4th on your calendar. It is going to be the date of our Awards Gala. More details to follow, but we will gather for dinner that day to honor our post season award winners and celebrate all of our accomplishments from the season. It will be on post and we plan to build an entire weekend for alumni, parents and friends of the program. This is an event that I had a lot of success with in my previous stop.  It is a great night out for everyone and a tremendous opportunity to share fellowship with the team and all of Army Wrestling Nation. Stay Tuned for more, but we can't wait to see you that weekend.

America's Team vs American

Wrestling | West Point Army Athletic Association (evenue.net)

Our last dual will be Sunday 2/25 at home.  We will honor our seniors and try to put a cap on a pretty successful dual season. Please make the trip if you can.  If you can't, feel free to drop some tickets that can benefit local youth.  We had a great crowd at every dual the last few years and want to send our Firsties out in style. If you will be here, please come to the social.

But now onto what you really came to read!

What an incredible night in Annapolis and an incredible night for our guys.  Their effort and heart were on display from the opening whistle.  Here are a few takeaways.

-Navy is incapable of pushing the pace like we are.

-We lived on their legs all night-We beat two National Qualifiers with freshmen and were a sketchy locked hands call from doing it at heavyweight as well

- They don't like losing to us (I wouldn't either if I was telling recruits what they tell them)

- Coach Ward is the Navy - whisperer.  This marks his 6th win against the Mids, including 3 out of the last 4 on the road.

Did I mention they don't like losing to us? I must confess I was shocked when we arrived in the Navy room on Thursday to see that they had removed their wall of All Americans and champions and replaced it with Star Match victories.  Clearly, they treat this like the most important event on their schedule.  Let's be honest- In November when they were beating Illinois and ranked in the top 15- no one would have given the Army Team a shot in this dual.  Most experts would have them favored in 8/10 bouts.  But those experts usually look at high school rankings, and November results and forget about DEVELOPMENT. We didn't forget about development.  And last night it showed.  Again. We got some great momentum building and it's almost time to focus on the post season. We can't wait to see what else these guys are capable of.
