Go Green's Notes from Post

Forgive me, but you are going to get some quotes from me today.

Comparison is the thief of Joy

I thought a lot about this one on the drive home (7 hours) from Geneva, Ohio after a successful U23 event.  5 All Americans, a Pan Am Team member and a World Teamer is a pretty good haul.  Charlie Farmer and Lucas Stoddard will join Sofia Macaluso as Team USA representatives from WPWC in Colombia in two weeks.  Lucas will be the heavyweight for our country in Albania in October.  I'm not sure anyone but us saw this coming.  You might say we surprised ourselves. This success, coming on the heels of Ben Pasiuk placing at the NCAA tourney, really helps to shed light on what athletes are capable of when they train in our room.  Army Wrestling fans now have the luxury of looking at the list of things that our core squad and club athletes have done and pick their favorite.

A rising tide lifts all boats

Don't for a second think that these things happen in a vacuum.  Success begats success.  I can't count the number of sessions I have spent in Arvin with Chuck, Joe Couch, Vayle and Sofia training together.  Chuck went from a relative freestyle novice to the national finals because he gained an understanding of the sport.  Joe is now a 2x U23 Greco AA.  Lucas Stoddard has had the benefit of sessions with former US World Team member Mike Rogers, and the entire big guy room has come together and elevate each other and we now have 3 other U23 AA's in 2023-24 Tom Godbee, Austin Kohlhofer and Wolfgang Frable.

Final results on the Weekend

Lucas Stoddard FS Champion 125kgCharlie Farmer FS Runnerup 57kgAustin Kohlhofer FS 7th 97kgJoe Couch Gr 4th 55kgWolfgang Frable 4th 97kgAll this happens because of your support of the club.  And success engenders more success.  We now have a couple of international trips to look forward to and to fund.  More to come on that soon.  But we appreciate your role in making this a reality
