Go Green's Notes from Post

Wrestling season has arrived!

Lots of action for the program this weekend, highlighted by our three Princeton Open Champs.  We showed once again that we are the deepest team in the nation and that we have a plethora of guys that are bought into our vision.  A very strong start to the year.

Top of the Podium

Ethan starts his 133 career with a bang, defeating a returning All American in the finals.  Silent C was finishing takedowns in all his matches, which is the key to his success.  Great event.I have nicknamed Gunnar the Superball, because he wrestles like one of those Wham-o projectiles that all of you my age had when you were kids.  His energy overwhelmed all of his opponents on his way to the title.Captain Dalton took home the crown as well, up at 174.  He is an incredibly steady performer and his win over a returning national qualifier was due to him getting back to being very good on top.  In addition to these three studs, we had a lot of guys drop one match and come back and go undefeated the rest of the day.  We pretty much got what we came for- a lot of quality competition that will give our staff some data as we move forward in the season.

Women's Wrestling is Here

After a year of getting you results from Vayle and Sofia, I can now report that 3 Cadets represented the WPWC at the Princeton Open this past weekend.  Firstie Ava Purifoy led the charge with 3rd place finish at 131lbs.  We also got strong efforts from Kat Guth at 138 and Loralia Megory at 117.  Coach Vayle also placed 3rd.  Welcome to America's Team, girls.

Headed South (and other places)

We are fired up to head to Charleston this week to take on Gardner Webb and The Citadel on the Yorktown on Friday. Another contingent of wrestlers from USMA will compete at the Journeymen tourney on Sunday. USMAPS has a home dual on Saturday vs Utica. We also will have a group of RTC athletes headed to the Bill Farrell at the NYAC this weekend as well. A lot going for America's Team right now! Thrilled you are here for it!!
