Go Green's Notes from Post

Hey Guys, Lots to talk about! I just got back from Bulgaria and we are ready to get going on what promises to be a great year for America's Team. The trip to u20 Worlds had some solid results.  The USAW Freestyle team that I coached had the best results in the history of the event, crowning 5 Champions and winning the team title over Russia and Iran by a wide margin.  Our rep in the Greco event, plebe Arvin Khosravy went 1-1 at 82k, a pretty impressive result considering he spent most of his summer in Beast and didn't have much prep for the event.  He will be back!  I know we both learned a lot and look forward to bringing some of those lessons back to the Hudson Valley.

I also had the pleasure of running into Old Grad Joseph Forman, who was coaching his son who was competing for Team Costa Rica.  The Long Gray Line extends worldwide!  But you guys already knew that. Meanwhile, in Paraguay, West Pointers bookended another Championship for the Red White and Blue at the Pan Am Games.  Chuck Farmer won silver at 57k, losing a close final to a tough competitor from Cuba, while Lucas Stoddard won his THIRD International gold by dominating the field at 125k.  Great work by both of them.

Back at home, it great to have all the guys back and engaged in the traditions that mark the fall on post.  Coach Nickerson has hit the ground running as he has been able to see our Cows affirm and our Firsties get their rings in a short period of time.  Next week is Branch Week, and we look forward to hosting a large group of recruits to show them what West Point is all about.

A few more items!

Golf Tourney

We are pumped to have a sold-out event again this year.  We are still looking for a few hole sponsors, if you are so inclined.  We also have a great auction planned, so if you can't attend, be ready to bid!

Beast Report

Our new cadets always excel at Basic, and this year was no different.  Always proud of the leadership our current team provides as well.  This year we were able to sweep the new cadet combative tourneys, as Clare Booe won the female event, and Casper Stewart was the champion of the male bracket.  Two future Army Wrestling impact athletes as freshman got started early! Again, it is good to be back state side and gearing up for another great year.  Would love to hear what you are all up to, and keep you excited about this team moving forward.
